A light drizzle gave way to sunshine before our first stop at Le Musée L’Épopée de la Moto in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.
Bikes galore
L’Épopée ain’t the Barber, but it really is well worth the price of admission.

Displays include roughly 100 beautifully restored bikes – including at least 1 of every brand you’ve ever heard of from AJS to Vincent, three 1970’s Italian classics (Bimota, Laverda, Moto Guzzi) still in their packing cases…plus the obligatory photo opportunity for children of all ages!

Cheese please
Back on the bikes we headed for stop number two, the justly renowned Fromagerie des Basques in Trois Pistoles. This restaurant provides breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence, food that melts in the mouth, and a well paved parking lot…who could ask for anything more?

Pointe-au-Pere
This could easily be a full day out, if you climbed the light, visited the Empress of Ireland Museum, and toured the Ondenaga Submarine.
We did the 50 cent tour - walked the grounds and enjoyed an hour of sea, sand, and sunshine.

Final 20 km to Ste-Flavie
From Point-au-Père it’s a mere “slip and a slide” along the now rural Rte 132 to Le Gaspesiana Motel at Ste. Flavie – another spot well worth a visit. Ste Flavie is on La Route Arts
From Ste. Flavie all roads lead to Percé, which – considering this morning’s debacle – is a very good thing. Either way we should get to see the famous rock…fog not withstanding!
All-in-all it was an excellent day, on the bikes and off, and we are being lulled to sleep by the waves lapping the shores of the St.Lawrence.
As they say around here…á demain.

Cheese!!! Woo Hoo! Great stories!
ReplyDeleteCould it have been my favourite brother who's responsible for the unscheduled jaunt into Quebec City?
ReplyDeleteIf so he's beginning to take after our parents....he'll know what I mean!
